Transportation Department
The Wayne County Board of Developmental Disabilities Transportation Department is located at 1000 West Liberty Street in Wooster. The Board has a fleet of 30 buses as well as 22 cars, trucks and vans. Over 425 students and adults are transported daily to and from school and work. In 2006, the bus fleet traveled 368,017 miles averaging 30,668 miles per month.
Being a countywide program, students and adults are transported from West Salem to Mt. Eaton, from Doylestown to Shreve, and everywhere in between.
The transportation department operates its own maintenance facility. Tim Richards, Transportation Supervisor, manages a staff that consists of 26 bus drivers, 26 bus aides, 11 van drivers, 2 mechanics, and 1 assistant supervisor. Several substitute aides and drivers are also employed to fill in when needed.
